Water Pumps
• All moving parts are dangerous, always read and understand the Operation and Maintenance Manual (OMM).
• All moving parts on non-canopied units must be guarded, and the pump must have guards in place during operation.
• Canopy must be closed during operation.
• Never insert hands or other objects into intake or discharge ports.
• Always follow lockout/tag out procedures before doing any maintenance.
• Always use the pintle-style hitch when towing.
• Never tow the pump if any bolts or parts are missing or loose.
• Always obey speed limits and never tow a pump at speeds greater than 60 mph (97 km/h).
• Always follow instructions and lift the pump with designated rigging equipment.
• Never lift the pump if any of the six bolts on the pump used for lifting are missing or loose.
• Always be sure to disconnect suction or discharge hoses prior to lifting.
• Never pump flammable liquids or liquids of unknown hazard.
• Always be aware of fire risks and keep open flames away from pump.
• Always allow adequate ventilation to engine, exhaust and coalesce.
• Never overfill gas tank.
• Always flush pump with clean water after use.
• Be sure pump is level and stabilized before starting work.
• Be sure trailer tires are designed to handle towing and the load of pump with contents.
• Always monitor tire pressure.
